Ahead of the launch of its new set-top streaming device, the Google TV Streamer, Google is rolling out updates for all Google TV devices. These include a home panel for managing smart home devices, AI-driven screensavers, a dedicated sports page, and more.
On Monday, the company unveiled several enhancements for the Google TV platform. Among the updates is a home panel designed as a control center for compatible smart home gadgets like lights, thermostats, and security cameras. Users can also take advantage of new doorbell notifications, allowing them to see visitors at their front door without interrupting their viewing experience. For added convenience, Google Assistant voice commands enable hands-free control when the remote is out of reach.
The home panel can be accessed via Quick Settings and appears as a feed on the right side of the screen.
Another highlight is the sports page in the For You tab, offering fans a centralized hub for sports-related content. This includes live and upcoming games, commentary, YouTube highlights, and personalized recommendations based on user preferences.
